Grahamstown Flying Club, established in the late 1930’s is a community flying club. Fixed wing, weight shift, model flyers and Gyroplane pilots.
The GFC is the custodian of the Grahamstown Aerodrome based just outside Makhanda, Eastern Cape for the Makana Municipality. It relies on funding and support to maintain the airfield which is a strategic asset of the city of Makhanda and crucial for helping to maintain local interest, tourism, infrastructure, education, the judiciary and community development. The GFC supports general aviation in the area including fixed wing, weight shift, model flyers, helicopters and gyroplane pilots as well as the general community. It welcomes everyone interested in continuing to make the area healthy and vibrant as part of the aviation community in South Africa.
